Here is a guide to the best websites to use when looking for property to rent or buy in Greece. Particularly handy when researching Greek real estate from your own country!
Real Estate Websites In Greece
One of the most commonly asked questions in our Expats Greece Facebook group is which websites to use to look for property in Greece. Whether renting or buying a property in Greece, being able to search for houses online is a first step when working out where to live after moving to Greece.
Depending on where you live in the world, you might be used to websites like Zillow or On The Market. Unfortunately, these aren’t much use to you when looking at Real Estate in Greece!
Instead, you are going to have to look on some local Greek company websites. The good news, is they mostly have English translation. The bad news, is that the Greek property market works very differently than what you might be used to.
How the Greek property market works in a subject for another guide though. This just focuses on websites you can use when renting or buying property in Greece.
Where to find houses to buy or rent in Greece
Here’s a list of websites to try when looking at rentals or places to buy in Greece. Be aware that some websites have nationwide listings, while others cover just one Greek island or region.
On these sites, you may find that home owners list directly. You might also find local real estate agents and brokers listing property on these platforms in order to reach a larger market.
At the end of the list, we’ve included a section on where to find short term housing. This might be useful if you want to spend some time in Greece on a temporary basis in order to see if you really want to move to Greece on a permanent basis.
1. Spitogatos
One of the longest running Greek real estates sites, Spitogatos covers all areas of Greece.
They were founded in 2006, and are probably the number one place expats in Greece recommend people to look for property to begin with.
The Spitogatos website used to be quite old looking, but it’s been given a recent update, making it a lot more user-friendly. Here, you will find properties in Greece to rent and buy, along with commercial properties, land, and student housing in Greece.
Spitogatos also has some subsidiary websites you might find mentioned in other places. We haven’t given them their own description in this list of Greek Real Estate sites, as they nowadays all look quite similar. Still, you might find some properties that are listed on one site that don’t appear on another.
The other websites they form a hub with include Spiti24, and Tospitimou.
2. XE.gr
As with Spitogatos and the other sites mentioned, you can easily search and filter for houses for sale in Greece, as well as property for rent. There is even a category for renting parking spaces which might be useful for anyone considering moving to Athens, where parking can be at a premium.
A couple of people when asked in the Facebook group had rented and bought property using them.

3. Rightmove
Rightmove, a UK company, does have some Greek listing for property. It’s worth a look, but our feeling is that this is not aimed at a domestic Greek audience – rather at a potential expat or holiday home market. They have far fewer listings than the sites mentioned so far.
While this could be useful, a lot of the properties will be more expensive here. This is good if you are looking for a property to meet Golden Visa requirements. Bad if you are trying to get a more locals price.
Check their Greek property listings here: Rightmove Greece.
4. Remax (Global)
Another international company who have a smaller selection of properties for rent and sale throughout Greece. In the same way as Rightmove, some of the properties, particularly those aimed at the Golden Visa applicants, might not offer terrific value.

5. Facebook Marketplace
While probably not the place to look to buy a house, the Facebook marketplace can be a useful resource when looking for apartments and rooms to rent. This will put you in direct contact with the property owner or manager. Especially useful for finding rooms to rent in Athens or Thessaloniki.
Short Term Rentals in Greece
Due to Greek rental rules which are designed to protect the tenant (and to a certain extent the landlord), short term rentals can be an issue to come by.
Here’s some suggestions of where to try renting places to stay in Greece for 3 months or less:
